If you seem to be having problems with key binds, try to reset your binds back to default and then redo them.

Hi, is the 1.1 patch required for your mod to work?. I ask because I'm havung a lot of issues trying to install it...

I have not tested this mod on Bioshock 1.0. I assume that 1.1 Bioshock is required but I am not certain. I recommend it only because that's how I tested the mod.
IF you're having problems installing it I can help, what's the issues?

well first of all, I apreciate you offering your help, I've spent the last 2 days trying to figure out what the problem may be. This is the issue:
The game installs fine, I can start it play, everything's cool. During the patch installation, I get a "old file not found, however a file of the same name..." bla bla warning, something like that. I hit OK, it continues, installs "succesfully". I launch the game, I get to the main menu, and here's where things get weird...
First of all, the "Graphics options" menu displays wrong titles for the options, for example, instead of saying "Resolution" it says "PCHighlights", instead of "VSync" it says "Texture quality". Like everything's shifted places.
Secondly, if I try to access either the gameplay or sound options the game crashes.
Finally, if I ignore all that and simply hit new game or load game, it begins loading and the suddenl crashes. In all instances of CTD I get the "Bioshock.exe has encountered an error..." warning
The funny thing is, a couple of years ago when I was having the same problem with the patch installation, getting the "old file not found" thing, but then everything run smoothely...now...I get this weird issue....
I've posted on the official forums but so far no answer...
Thanks btw!.

Just to make sure: you're not trying to install the patch after installing Silver's mod, right?
|

hehe, nope. So far all I do is: Install the game, install the patch.

OK SORRY my power went out and then we lost internet connection when power came back. Big blizzard here on the east coast.
OK now, Just to be sure do you get these problems without installing my mod? If you don't, it could have something to do with the Lozalized.lbf file that you're supposed to move. Try leaving a copy in both the "\Bioshock\content\system\" folder AND the "\Bioshock\content\" folder.
ALSO make sure you're installing the right patch for your regional version of Bioshock. If I remember properly there are multiple types of 1.1 patches. There is a WORLDWIDE RETAIL version and a USK GERMAN AND ENGLISH version.
To be honest, I'm not sure which I used.

I realize now I should definitely write a disclaimer that this mod is best suited for an English version of Bioshock, since it might cause problems with foreign languages.

Its definetly not your mod, because I haven't even installed it. Regarding the patch, I checked and I have the correct one, the worldwide. Just in case I tried the other one, but it didn't work. I believe the USK is for censored version. (which I definetly not have) Also, on a side note, I'm installing the game in English language. PS.: Blizzards?, here in Argentina we have heat wave that makes me feel like I'm an icecream in a microwave. Wanna trade places?

Sure, I'd appreciate it because shoveling a over a meter's worth of snow the last weeks is getting tiresome. I know I had the problem once before and I can't remember how I fixed it. http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14898Maybe there's something in here that could help you bro I've been searching via google for the last 15 minutes and I can't find anything. Usually this bug happens with pirated version which I TOTALLY DID NOT HAVE before I bought a legit copy (try before I buy)...

BTW I think it is required to have the Bioshock 1.1 patch before using my mod specifically because the 1.1 patch has new tonics and my mod is based on Bioshock 1.1.

Man, I've never even seem snow in my life...need to start traveling more...
Well, I have a legit copy. (damn thing cost me more money I want to remember, 3.5$ (Argentine peso) = 1 US$), I have to pay almost four times the normal price...
I'll check that post now.
Thanks btw!

damn, I had checked that post before, sadly, couldn't find a solution to the problem...
I did try something they mentioned there, using a no-cd crack after patching, but the game wouldn't even launch...
You mentioned you had this problem before, you mean the options menu issue plus ctd?
|
|
|
| psikoticsilver
|
I had the problem where it wouldn't install properly. I can't say I've had the problem with the menus. Or crashing to desktop. I'm not sure, it sounds like either a problem with your PC or a problem with Securom.
I have to ask, is this the same install of your operating system you were using the last time you played Bioshock?

it is, escept for one thing. I change my videocard. I had an nVidia 8800 GTX, now I have a GTS 250
|

Yea, I try the revoke tool as well, no luck there...
Is it possible the videocard had something to do with it?
|
|
|
| psikoticsilver
|
It is possible, but I don't see why. It's an Nvidia sponsored game... unless the card has problems in other games as well. I'm sorry that I don't know what to do to help you IF you haven't reinstalled your operating system since you last played Bioshock you could try that. Fresh install, fresh drivers, fresh bioshock. A lot of work for Bioshock Worth it though, I've replayed it like 10 times and I'm sitll not sick of it.

haha, I guess I'll try that, is really the only thing left to try to make it work.
Thanks for taking the time to help me, psiko!

OMG I found the solution!!!!!
All I had to do is edit the default.ini file by adding a smicolon in front "AudioDevice=FMODAudio.FMODAudioSubsystem" and then adding "AudioDevice=D3DDrv.D3DAudioDevice" right below it.
Oh man, I feel so relieved!
I'll finally be able to try your mod!
Hope that helps anyone having the same issue.
See ya!

So, is this mod final or will there be new versions?
|
|
|

One more version, because I enjoy working on it too much.... but I won't release the next version for a while. It'll probably be the final version, unless I decide to make an interim one.
