I was reading your thread in this topic about changing the models of the player to that of an enemy. I tried what you said with changing the .bin and .cal files in the mesh folder to that of the desired enemy but my problem is I can't find player_1.bin and .cal in the mesh folder. Is it possible that the mods I've downloaded changed the name of the files I'm looking for?I'm using the SHTUP beta 6 and Rebirth beta 01-Complemented along with other mods that change weapon models, crosshairs, and the menu screen via the modmanager. Or am I simply looking in the wrong file?

Those files are not included in any mods, so they don't exist.
The original versions of those files are safely tucked away in the resources archive mesh.crf, and can be left well enough alone.

Stupid question, but here goes: I have installed the game, installed the patch, installed the SS2 tool, and mod manager.  Finally got everything working on my laptop, and I've been able to play for around an hour or more.  I've got rebirth (complemented) and SHTUP installed. I was looking for some before and after screenshots of SS2 so I can verify that both my mods are installed correctly and working. I know that the game is old, but in the one screenshot that is listed for rebirth on fileplanet, the model in the shot looks much more detailed than the hybrids and the few monkeys I've seen so far. Keep in mind, I just made it to the Med area on the first ship. So maybe the hybrids and monkeys weren't updated?

Also, after all of the above steps, should I have the option to play multiplayer in the main menu? Because I do not.

If you mean this screenshot (of a midwife), it has been set to use another texture specifically for Rebirth Complemented, see the first post. BTW, the model is still high poly, it just uses the original texture.
Checking whether your mods work or not should be as easy as activating/deactivating said mod in the Modmanager and loading up the game. Especially the hybrids will look quite different with Rebirth, as you will notice.

Yes, you should have a multiplayer button in the main menu. You might want to re-patch your game with the SS2Tool (choose "Patching up" only), but maybe backup your game folder before you do, because I'm not quite sure what went wrong with your install.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look. Can the saved games folder be transferred from one computer to another without trouble?

I installed System Shock 2 on 2 PC's. And I transfered my savegames from one PC to another and it worked.

If you mean the humans in the earth level (before the training center) they should use the rebirth models. Which makes them look like corpses unfortunately.
The ADaoB mod fixes that. So if you use that, they will look like the normal models again.

Hey Kolya......this mod is going to be the first to hit 100 thousand views.  Should we throw a party?

You serve the drinks, I'll start a fire, we'll get Chicajo on the turntables and Cyberblutch will be in charge of bringing the busty naked chicks ;)

...of course we still have 300 or so views to go.

I must be missing something here but is the modmanager even required to use the rebirth mod and second is it actually suppose to do anything cause so far I cant even get the program interface to start.  Its running on my system but there is no interface to interact with.

The modmanager is not required although I recommend it. I suggest you start here.

Hey, I wonder. Will there be any further development to the Rebirth Mod?
After there are still some NPC models in need of improvement.

I don't recall where exactly I saw this, but the original creator of the mod is definitely no longer doing it. Although I can't find any definite confirmation, take into account the fact that 'Beta 01' is his only release, and that was released in 1999, ten years ago. ;p Although someone else may take up the cross, CyberBlutch is long gone.

D'oh. My bad. Took a good look at the description and realized I misread it.

"This is the beta 01 of the "Rebirth" mod made for the "System Shock 2" game made by Irrational and released in 1999."

So it's more like '05, but my point holds. You didn't even confirm or deny it! Pft, detail nazi! xD

Rebirth is Cyberblutch's work and he has stopped working on it a long time ago when he got a job with Arkane Studios.

I noticed that this archive still has the monkey texture with the red scribble on its hand. I have a monkey skin without that scribble (I think I got it from Kolya); wouldn't it be prudent to update the archive with that skin?

Heh, I've been waiting years to see if anybody would notice that little mistake. And I doubt anyone has a version that's identical but without the scribble because that's the only version I ever released.
