Hi, I'm quite confused regarding the digital, base installations of SS2. I have the Steam version and I'm unsure whether the installation is in the same state as  voodoo7 explains in this thread from 2013: https://steamcommunity.com/app/238210/discussions/0/828938532755488565/
Did NightDive left it untouched and focused on updating the game with their own fixes based on NewDark through the Steam beta branch? Did they revert back the faulty SS2Tool installation to an OldDark state, like Thief 1-2 on Steam?
And what exactly did they do to the GOG version? I'm unsure if NightDive's updates are the way to go now instead of SS2Tool, since GOG doesn't seem to get those.

Misc. question: does Dark Mod Manager function in the same way as Blue Mod Manager?

Thanks!

currently, the GOG/steam build is a clean CD install patched with the latest NewDark, and updated with a set of dml fixes crafted (by systemshock.org) to suit that build (SS2tool lite, if you will). the beta branch is just the latest batch of those dmls, currently waiting for some steam deck control profiles to be added before it's deployed.

to make it short, the GOG/steam build is ready to go if you don't care about mods or fan missions.

and while you technically can just drop a modmanager (old or new, shouldn't matter) onto the GOG/steam build, this should be considered an unsupported last resort solution for those who absolutely cannot run SS2tool, which is pretty much mandatory if you plan to load mods/FMs in any serious manner.
