I'd call it more a source port or engine update.

The Quake Remaster has been given more content via the latest update, including a Horde mode (where you have to survive for as long as you can whilst fighting against waves of enemies getting ever tougher) for one to four players, and a new episode (set of levels).

This is great news for Quake fans, and apparently lots of those fans are hoping that the great reception the remaster received when released, and it's continuing popularity, will make id Software (or Microsoft, who now own id Software) decide to release a new Quake game. The Doom, Wolfenstein, and Shadow Warrior franchises have seen modern releases in the paste decade or so, with many of those new new games being really good.

The Duke Nukem franchise also saw Duke Nukem Forever released, ten years ago, but we don't talk about that. Or play it. But a new Duke Nuken first person shooter could and should be excellent. Just keep it away from anyone who worked on Duke Nukem Forever.

releasing the abandoned DNF builds and letting the community finish them up would be enough.

Damn, those alien bastards are gonna pay for shooting up my game!

Oh, wouldn't that be great? Do we know who has the power to allow this, now that Randy Pitchford is apparently no longer the CEO of Gearbox Software?

If Pitchford had been in charge when the Duke Nukem 3D source code was released to the public, then I really doubt that that would have happened.
