will be expanded as necessary - input from resident Thief players is welcomed. please use the following format when reporting a broken model: filename - modelname (archetype) [problem description]

probook.bin - CamoButton-Book (-2575) [missing back polys] actually this is probably intentional
hamstat.bin - HammerStatue (-193) [lowpoly] available in EP2
gargoy2.bin - ChickenGargoyl (-457) [lowpoly, missing back polys]
gargoy.bin - Gargoyle (-456) [lowpoly, missing back polys]
bedroll.bin - Bedroll (-477) [lowpoly]
elecspo2.bin - HangSpotFlush (-2742) [a hole in the model on the top]
lcstat2.bin - LC_Cthulhu (-193) [lowpoly]
Coil03.bin - a Coil03 (-400) [a crack/see through part in the middle of the model]
doorkeep.bin - KeeperDoor (-3345) [texture mapped weirdly in the lower right corner, under the door handle]

please do not report objects that already have a proper EP replacement.

Unfortunately that statue won't convert from bin to e, so any material shader changes would have to be made in the bin file itself. I did a brief comparison comparing two versions of one of my objects, one with phong and one without, but I wasn't able to see a connection between their differences and any of the hex values in dstat3.bin.

This should do it.
Don't have Thief installed atm, need to do it the next days.

What's the difference between phong and gouraud, btw?

my Dromed crashes when trying to load the fixed model. guess I will have to wait until you install Thief.
6649069df3085
I guess I need another exporter then. Just used the same as for SS2.
They aren't compatible to Thief I guess?

Is there some toolkit for Thief you can lead me to?

EDIT:
I have Thief now (from steam) and used the BSP.exe delivered with it. Still no luck with the statue.
Attached the e now, maybe someone else can help out with that.

EDIT2:
If it's not necessarly is important that it is gouraud, but just smoothing, here's a bin of the statue.

//v47: actually EP2 contains a proper dstat3.bin - so this was completely unnecessary. ah well.

yeah, whatever will remove that weird blocky look of the original model - smoothing seem to have done the trick. added some more models.

Dromed Basic Toolkit (should have all the tools included): http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141708

The original Thief supports only version 3 of the bin format. Thief 2 and Shock support versions 3 and 4.
The exporter you're working with writes only version 4 models. I'm assuming voodoo47 runs the original Thief (not on top of NewDark). In that case, the models really are incompatible.

I wasn't aware of that, good to know. anyway, the proper tools should be included in the toolkit I've linked.
6649069df3876
No, the model I produced first was really bugged. Even when I produced them with the thief bsp.exe, which should be version 3.
The only way I could get a working model into the game was using the exporter by nemyax. So NewDark will be a requirement for it.
Currently I have a Steam Thief Gold with installed TFix 1.17b2 where I checked none of the options.
I guess (hope) this is a good base for testing and fixing without having to bother with having anything "new" in it which could obstruct me.

6649069df3975
there is a basic fixed model set that is installed even if you do not check anything. if you want to disable those as well, let me know.
6649069df3a79
Only if it's necessary, I can setup my thief installation to anything you think would benefit the most.

6649069df3b2dvoodoo47

6649069df3b7b
I don't think it's necessary, as there is no need to make fixed models for those models which have already been fixed.
6649069df3cfb
Made a new bedroll model.
Tried to put the old texture on it, but it's ugly.
If there is some high res texture available I can fit it onto that.
And it's bin version 4, if that's not a problem.

Also tried to install the dromed basic toolkit you linked, now I get an error when I want to enter game mode. Seen here
Anyone knows how to fix it?

I have just tried TG clean + TFix + Dromed basic + Dromed.exe and darkdlgs.dll from the T2 1.21 NewDark package, and it seems to be working fine when going ingame. make sure you copy over those two NewDark files.

Oh, I missed to copy the files.
It wasn't mentioned in the how to install so I thought it wasn't necessary.
Thanks for helping out there.

I'm not so familiar with thief modding. Is there something like SHTUP which I should use for texturing?
The bedroll just comes out completely sad with the original ones.

6649069df40aevoodoo47

6649069df40fc
the original EP would be the Thief equivalent of SHTUP - a must have, at least on my list. it does pretty much the same thing - replaces many awfully lowpoly objects and their textures with a much finer versions. you can install it via TFix (just run the installer again).

there are a few world texture mods out there, but not many - one texture pack is included in TFix, those are basically a higher res replacement textures from Thief2, there is Tin's pack which does not even try to stay true to the originals, and EP2 beta, which still has some beta stuff going on. I would probably leave them be for now (although EP might have some more obj models included, I will probably have to have a look).

oh, and you'll probably want to activate the editor hw rendering if you haven't done that already, edit dromed.cfg, scroll down and uncomment

Installed the texture pack, but didn't found any obj textures.
Probably did something wrong again :o

6649069e00096
EP (Thief Enhancement Pack) is what you need.

6649069e001f2voodoo47

6649069e00253
no, because it's one of those models which do not have an EP replacement.
6649069e00353
So they only did new textures for new models?
I see.
So to fix all those low poly models there would be someone to texture them.
Is there at least someone in the thief community who does that?
If yes, send him here :D

6649069e003ecvoodoo47

6649069e0043f
yeah, to upgrade the rest of the models (EP has over 300), both modeling and texturing work would be required.

6649069e0050evoodoo47

6649069e00568
we send Olfred to save the daay?

attaching the models and textures for the sake of convenience.

EP includes a very nice set of updated swords, unfortunately, with very broken hands. I did report this at least once, but it seems like either the original modeler is not available anymore or they have bigger fish to fry. attaching the models in a newdark mod format (you will need to have TFix installed, then just extract into USERMODS. to view the models ingame, start any mission before "the Sword" to see the regular sword, and any mission after that to see the Constantine's sword. block with the sword to see the broken parts).

also, pita warning, this won't be a one-click-and-done fix. I should be able to tweak the textures myself (the ones included are actually the ones I've already tweaked for the TFix custom models) when the models are fixed.

//attaching the unmodified hand texture just in case.
