I absolutely love this mod, except for the sound effect. So I've managed to make an alternative.

ok, the log would imply that you are not using the modmanager to load all those mods - if you are loading EVERYTHING from one folder (patch_ext maybe?), consider it a MIRACLE that your game works at all. delete everything, reinstall the game, load the mods via the modmanager and then we'll talk.

Secmod 3 + R&R&Rs EMP Rifle SecMod compat + Ball Lightning Rifle  =  error

The only issue I can see is that SecMod has modified the damage that the Maintenance Bots do. The game calls it "droid spark" and it is electrical damage. It is what I used for the BLR. SecMod has added some splash to that kind of projectile. So, the BLR will also have splash damage in SecMod. Since the player is also vulnerable to electrical damage, you can hurt and kill yourself if you are too close to where the electricity impacts.

I see no difference in how the BLR operates in SecMod whether or not the RRR mod is loaded. RRR changes the way the rifle looks, and it does that the same way in SecMod, whether or not BLR is loaded with it.

The ball lighting would pretty much kill a human.

Like instant nervous system damage. "heart STOPS"
This is why the word here is.... EMP cuz that only effects machines and half machine humans.

And creatures with psi abilities have much much more chance of getting killed by it due to their more complex nervous systems.

I would have totally called it a "electron pulse rifle"

But pulse rifle was used by the aliens franchise. when none of it's iner workings really relies on a pulse really
"pulse used for wireless firing of normal bullets"

Anyway I liked this version of the emp rifle but wished that the little display on it was more functional.

Ok, but with this mod, the EMP Rifle is no more. It is now a rifle that shoots a ball of electricity. Visible electricity, as in ball lightning.

If we want to get all freaking technical.
-In real life
1. the gun would have to be mounted stationary and would not be able to move till done firing.
2. The pulse would not dissipate upon hitting a target. "only once the device is switched off"
3. the ball would emit a high pitched crackling and buzzing sound till it does due to the interaction with oxygen exploding.

-In video game life.
1. rule 1 does not apply as the ball lighting core contains nano bots moving at a incredible rate causing voltage potentials to rise no longer requiring the gun to emit it. "same can be achieved with psi" would emmit a tint of violet red-ish light same a a plasma ball.
 2. since rule 1 of VGL applies this no longer is a issue to rule 2.
3. rule 3 still appies.... but it's a video game in a sci-fi setting so bob is your uncle.

Basically re-render everything using the color 127,127,127 "neutral" then render the emp effect using a color higher that that for inward depth and the opposite for outward depth.

Emp also does not damage electronics... it "nullifies or overcharges" the charges in it.. DEAD.

As me and voodoo are both the same nationality I have pronounced the same meaning in our language which is very commonly used and not considered lame. Just as ball lightning is normal and serious expression I came accross many times.

The Ball Lightning Rifle (BLR) mod is a modification of the EMP Rifle. While the EMP Rifle did EMP damage - affecting only mechanicals and half mechanicals, with this mod, the BLR does Electrical Damage, which in addition to mechs and half mechs, also affects humans and half humans. The BLR shares the EMP Rifle's weakness when it comes to the pure annelids (Reavers and spiders), in that it has no effect on them whatsoever. In addition, the BLR has no effect on SHODAN, which is one area where the EMP Rifle excels.

In addition to changing the damage type, this mod reduces the Maintenance level requirement. While the EMP Rifle had level 6 Maintenance requirement, the minimum Maintenance level has been reduced to 4 with the BLR.

The attached pics:
First up is the BLR mod loaded along with the R&R&R EMP Rifle mod. While the BLR mod changes the way the EMP Rifle works, the RRR mod does all of the work of making the rifle look great. The one in the screencap is their Rifle #3 along with LarkSS's materials addon.

Second is the BLR mod with the vanilla EMP Rifle. Uuugly!

Finally, a table from Prima's Strategy Guide showing the effects of different kinds of damage on the different kinds of monsters. Highlighted are the EMP and Electricity damages made relevant by this mod, as well as the Energy type, which is used by the Laser Pistol and Laser Rapier.
