Uhm... I did a reinstall of SS2 because i messed with it too much and wanted a clean slate... But it crashes after i select my class of character after using your tool to patch the game...

That would be when a video begins to play usually. Read the SS2 Videos / Cutscenes Guide. As a quick fix, rename the file LGVID.AX. It's not related to the SS2 Tool btw.

I have followed all the instructions for installing the HOTU version. I've done the tool, the mod manager, and have Rebirth and SHTUP in my mod manager. I'd like to play the game at 1280x1024. The game loads up 1600x1200x16 by default, which I can't run. My other choices are the ones the game came with. I know 1280x1024 was added with the Tool. How can I make it happen?

It's not "added with the tool". It just writes a line into cam.cfg and you should have used the one option you needed instead of just checking every box like an illiterate monkey.
Also see first post. Then go and delete the unnecessary 1600x1200 line.

I only moved the CRFs as you said, and did not install the patch. Should I not have checked the resolution or bug fixes either?
6648f72c512d3
You should have checked only one of them. Now open up cam.cfg in a text editor and delete the line that says:
game_screen_size 1600 1200
And you will be fine. But use a decent editor, like Notepad++ or PSPad or Crimson Editor, etc. Windows notepad is not a decent editor.

thank you. I guess I saw the video resolution and puched it like a dumb monkey! I deleted the 1600x1200 line and all is well! Based on what you said, I'll assume the other stuff I checked will be ok as is.

I don't get it. A couple of months ago I had installed SS2 then installed your tool and ran it and the game loaded fine! But now, on my newer computer (still on Windows XP) I do all that and the game won't load! The two developers intros load but when I get to the main menu it's all purple and I get a windows error.

Upgraded your (nVIDIA) graphics card drivers recently?
Chances are that they broke SS2.  You'll need to use DDFix.

As I read in the FAQ for the Tool, the HOTU version of SShock2 doesn't need to be patched up. But I am happie to see, that Bugfixing options and merging the CRF's are doing their job well. One question is still standing in the field of view, when I apply the Resolution package, the game always wants to start SShock 2 in the highest Screenresolution, but is not able to use it. How can I fix this?

Whenever i try to open the Mod Manager, I'm just getting a message saying: "Sorry, only one instance of ss2mm allowed".

What am I doing wrong? ^^

Well for one thing you're posting this in the wrong thread as the mod manager has it's own thread.
Apart from that you should check of course if the program is already open. If you don't see it on your start bar but still get the message, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and bring up the task manager to kill the program there. Then try starting it again.

Does this tool fix the black screen problem after starting a new game? Like when the bar reaches 100% it blacks out.. Does the Koyla tool fix it? :( Also, If i dl the installation, does that mean i have to reinstall ss2? Or just install the koyla tool from where i am now, I really want to fix my stupid black screen problem, If you know any other solutions to fixing it, please email me at...   [Email address deleted ~Kolya]

thanks guys!

Hello Jenny, Jenza

for one thing don't post your email address on internet forums. You never know who will answer. Plus it makes no damn sense. This is a forum. We use it to communicate with another. Why would we want to email you? Come back and read the thread, because that is HOW IT WORKS.

There's another weird thing about forum threads: You're supposed to read the first post at least. Actually you should read all posts but in this case the first one is enough, as it answers your question.

Your sincere stalker,

Kolya

Ow okie then, Its just that somethings i don't underdstand, and im afraid of stuffing up my ss2 or system, but i have read it, but il read it again  8)

thanks Koyla :)

The SS2Tool won't stuff up your system. It's a patcher/bug-fixing tool. It doesn't re-install SS2 if that's what you're thinking.
Take note that the same problem has been brought up by others.

Oh and id also like to add to my comment above that koyla, you mentioned before somewhere that you have to take it off running in a compability mode right? Well i right clicked onto my Shock.exe and clickd properties>Compabilty> Then i unticked the box for "Run in compability mode for...". Then i relaunched my exe and then it says "system shock has encountered a problem and needs to close etc..." So how am i supposed to take it off compability mode when it wont even launch when i do???
