Say I wanted to create a mod that played one of three WAV files every time the player activated a Med Hypo instead of the default sound effect. Would that be possible?

Or music files, for that matter.

generally speaking, unless you are doing a direct file replacement, you should prepare for resistance.

so randomized sounds yes, but you would have to mess with sound schemas. you probably don't want to be doing that.

Well, I'm not much of a modder, but I could try. For instance, the Med Sci music. I've located the WAV file, and I know how to overwrite it (I've tested it already). However, is it possible for me to modify the game so that it plays one of three versions I've personally added to the archive rather than the same one on a loop?

not sure about the songs, someone else will have to pitch in.

this seems kind of superfluous though, the song chunks already are randomized by the game iirc.

Ah, well -- let's just say I have an unusual mod in mind, ha. I can't really say anymore.  And yes, hopefully! Perhaps I should submit this question in another thread.

I thought of the computer world as a vast arena, divided into different lands, or quadrants, of which the video game arena was one.
