1. You can acknowledge a post by clicking the ACK button inside that post.
This will add your name to a list of people who acknowledged this post, shown in the bottom of that post.
Think of it as a kind of "Like" button. Or use it to show that you've read a post without answering it.
When hovering with your mouse over a name in the list, the tooltip will show when the acknowledgement was added.
Clicking the ACK button in the same post again removes your acknowledgement.
2. At the end of a thread, right above the quick-post area a random quote will be shown.
You can add a new message there yourself by clicking the small link to the right of it.
You will receive a confirmation when your message was saved and upon reloading or visiting another thread you will see your own message there. Again, when hovering over a quote/message the tooltip will show who entered it when.
Both of these features will be visible to guests. But the interactive parts are reserved to registered members.
On that note: The registration process has been simplified. See the button in the top right that says: "Register".
We're almost like a normal forum now. Almost.

If you want to turn off the quotes above the quick-post area, simply add a message yourself containing only a space character. This turns off the feature for one month. You can extend this period by repeating this every few weeks or when the quotes turn up again. #1
Or you can re-enable them by adding a real message yourself.
