Using files extracted from the game archives and Sony Vegas, I extended and overlaid the looping ambience track of the cargo bays with whispers and sound effects (feet and vocalizations) of enemies at intervals, creating the impression of hearing entities that don't exist. Watch the YouTube video for a demonstration.

Ideally, the sounds would've been randomized, but I didn't want to mess around with the sound schemas. This means every time you enter the cargo bays, the ambience track will re-loop, so try to explore each cargo bay thoroughly before leaving. There are eight 'sound events' in the total ambience track.

I chose the cargo bays for this small experiment as I remember the tension and danger they evoked on my first playthrough. Depending on feedback, I could do the Recreation deck too.

I recommend you wear headphones, set the 'Positional Sound Bias' to the middle of the scale and lower music in the audio settings. Repeatedly tested with no issues.

Just load in the mod manager.
