What's the best way to rip the 3D models? (SS2)

I've already done it with FreeTheObjects, but the legs are squished and the "bones" are just blue cubes. So I wanna see if there's a better way.

IIRC there's a Dark plugin for blender

you mostly will have to relay on the old tools when working with the models, that's why almost nobody wants to touch them. @RocketMan could explain in full, I'd guess.
