SS2Tool v6.1 Cant see the SS2.exe when in the same folder

Recently downloaded SS2 via GoG and immediately went for this tool. Downloaded it and got to the install location select. The instructions were to put it in the same folder as the games' executable, made sure the folder was selected, and the 'Next' was still greyed out. Did some poking online, found out that the Tool doesn't like it when the game folder is in the "Program Files", which it was, so I moved the entirety of GoG out of there and into a special 'Games' folder just for it. Ran the Tool, still stuck on the Location select. Uninstalled/reinstalled, nothing.

Am I missing something? Will the Tool not progress past this point unless its provided access through the firewall? Wouldn't appear in Windows Firewall application either, couldn't give it permission, but I figured that'd be a problem for another day. If you have any advice on that too, I'd love to hear it.

you can run the tool from any location, not just the game folder, maybe try that. perhaps even wipe the game clean and download a fresh build from GOG. is anything read-only?
