Yeah, I was thinking about it as next step in development hell with little bit more polish on UI/UX  and QoL side of things.
But that heavily depends on my capacity to spend time on that purely "just for the lolz" project.
I appreciate the suggestion, thanks on input on that.

Hey, it's cool to hear my work was an inspiration!

If you want to take this idea further, I think you should copy my idea for nanites deducting on node click and come up with some more elaborate grids so it's a more engaging standalone minigame! :awesome:

As "baby first game engine" i think it's almost perfect and protyping in it can be done without feeling majorly lost like in "big" engines like UE5.

You just need to adapt "godot way" of decoupling code base - i.e state machines, dummy controller nodes, signals, self-sufficient scenes and custom nodes. If you will try to do it in good old "main()" here goes my game logic as big spagetti pile it will fail miserable.

Also GDscript is nice like if python had cute lil snake baby.

To be honest i don't test it anywhere except the latest Chrome.
There it works in default (open page and click play) and full screen mode with custom (ss2 like) cursor properly.

Please tell  me your Firefox version -  i will try to investigate issue but won't promise quick resolution as i used web export as it is.

I can upload desktop version if that will help you resolve the issue.

Cyber Piper will be my porn name in 10 years time, I have decided!

@OP: how is godot, nice and user friendly, a technical nightmare, or somewhere in-between?

There's no mouse pointer when I try the web version on Firefox.  Makes it a bit hard to click on the nodes.

It's not that surprising, considering it's essentially, by design, a glorified dice roll.

As a quick mini-game that is quite cool. Surprised no'one ever did a flash game of it decades ago.

This idea occupied back of my head for a long time.

To implement the "best" part of System Shock 2 game loop.

Now it's done and it's only missing battle pass and gacha mechanics to "pull" cute hybrid midwives using hard earned nanites.

Jokes aside here is a simple re-implementation of ss2 hacking minigame (with some other puzzle grids included).

Playable in browser, no download required.

It's simplified as there are no stats, cyb flavored psi-powers, implants, soft or ice picks attached to it.

Normally failing hack will do something but here it's just you and node activation chance.

Time to press on your luck, hacker!

P.S. big inspiration for this was https://rosodudemods.wordpress.com/2023/01/11/devblog-9-ss2-strategic-node-hacking/, so thanks RoSoDude!
