Developed by Bullfrog in 1993, Syndicate is an isometric real-time strategy game with a dark sci-fi theme.

SYNDICATE-Portable comes bundled with DOSbox and runs on Windows XP/Vista/7. It contains the expansion "American Revolt" with 3 new weapons, 21 new single player missions and 10 multiplayer missions.
The infamous drug control of your agents is explained in the included FAQ along with other valuable information to give you a quickstart into the game.

An interesting article in EDGE magazine describes The Making of Syndicate.

EDIT: Download removed. The game is now available for sale from gog.com.

This is quite an excellent idea. For me unfortunately I get errors.  'Fatal Error' 'Unhandled Exception while loading',
Second time around I got a different error saying that the program 'could not access vdms.ini'
I did just recently install VDM sound, maybe this is part of the issue.
I am guessing this does not run through DOSBox?
I am on Windows XP SP3.

Awesome stuff dude! I love this game.

After installing VDMSound you need to reboot.

If that still doesn't help and if you don't need it for anything else uninstall VDMSound.
In this case the game will automatically run with the included DOSbox.

EDIT: Okay, you beat me to it. Glad it works.

After some more tests (conquered Asia) I've come to the conclusion that the DOSbox emulation is much preferable. Especially the music runs more more smoothly and the speed is acceptable even on my netbook. So I've set the game now to always run in DOSbox. This won't make a difference for anyone who didn't run the game natively on XP with VDMSound before.

After playing through the Atari Jaguar port of Syndicate multiple times, any frame rate increase at all would seem magical.

It's also available via gog.com these days:

Although unfortunately it seems to lack the American Revolt expansion.
