The main character here looks very similar to a warrior cyborg in System Shock.

Is there something I'm missing? Looking Glass isn't mentioned anywhere on the wiki, did some looking glass people work at origin? I can't find any connection to LGS.

I took over the Looking Glass Classics which had previously been hosted at various sites including TTLG. So I cannot tell you exactly why Bioforge was included in this collection in the first place.
However Warren Spector worked at Origin Systems, although not on Bioforge, I think. Ken Demarest, the director of Bioforge later worked on Deus Ex: Invisible War (2003) and Thief-Deadly Shadows (2004). From what I know, the two companies Origin Systems and Looking Glass Studios were closely intertwined at the time. System Shock was built using a modified version of the Ultima Underworld (1992) engine and was published by Origin. Ultima Underworld had been created by Paul Neurath and Doug Church, produced by Warren Spector at Origin Systems, when Looking Glass was still "Blue Sky Productions".
I guess someone who has been there could explain this better. I would suggest to look out for tidbits of information in the interviews of these fellows: http://feeds.feedburner.com/LGSpodcast
