Apparently Seb didn't care or know how to write one. The mod.ini files are more for convenience sake, they're not necessary for the mod to work.

Why is there no .ini?

Fixed. It looks like some attachments broke during the last forum upgrade. I'll fix them as they are reported.

My fav shotty mod. I love Doom 3, and this is a nice reminder that my crappy video card wont run it. And i dont own a stupid XBOX.

But nice work.

Hmmm... would it be possible to take the Doom 3 Assault rifle? or make the wrench a flashlight (with no light of course)

No, he means merging the CRF files in the game's install directory with the CRFs in the "patch" folder. (CRF files are actually ZIP-archives.) The SS2Tool can do that for you btw.

Just a heads-up to anyone trying this mod-- If you haven't merged the Patch folder with the main install, the changed world model won't show up (since the patch updates several weapon world models, and the Patch folder overrides everything). Took me way too much hair-pulling before I figured that one out.

Do you mean the two WinZip files?

Only mêlée weapons have true animations; the guns are basically just static meshes.

Shotgun world model in .3ds format attached.

what about the Pistol Barrel sliding back?

SS2 already supports true rotating/translating joint animations for gun parts on firing.
You'll be able to see this in action in the upcoming version of SecMod.
When is it coming out?

The key is to make a model, change like it would a animation.

Basicly if you have 5 animations to pump the front, you would make 5 diffrent models, each at a diffrent stage of the action, and somehow* allow those models to be played in a line after each shot.

Least thats how they did in in duke3d and jdoom before they ported the models over to quake2 "that used true key frames"
(i speak of the add-on's inhancements made to them years after, not the old games themselfs ;))

A great mod which really enhances my favorite weapon in SS2. Thanks Seb!

I hope there are only few people left who might even run into this problem.
Anyone who follows the SS2 Technical FAQ won't have it, as the SS2 Tool merges the CRFs for them while "Patching Up".

Alternatively, as a quick fix you can create an OBJ folder inside the PATCH folder and put the world models in there.

The previous zip was downloaded 16 times, can't remember the one before that :) Thanks in advance!

Do you remember how many times it had been downloaded? Then I will set it back to that (plus the current).

I can't do animations; first of all, there is no tool (I think) to import those animations from the D3 shotgun, second, the shotgun model of SS2 is a static mesh (correct me if I'm wrong) which can't have animations.

Then there's the problem with my limited amount of time ;) combined with the fact that I'd like to replace the worldmodel as well, but can't seem to convert it properly (from SS2 to a 3ds file; so I can't make the new model fit correctly). It'll take time I'm afraid.

You've done some really nice work so far - any progress with animations and the like?

That would be nice. It's kinda odd getting a different gun than you picked up.

Archive & first post updated. Maybe this weekend I'll convert the world model as well, for the sake of completeness :)

I'd add the sound to the mod. The few people who want a D3 shotgun without the sound can still delete it from the archive.

Thanks! I have not noticed the flicker yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

If anyone is interested, I have the shotgun sounds as well. If anyone needs the model's files (.3ds / .obj, textures) I'll be glad to be of service.

Thank you, it's a good change for the standard shotgun. The hand looks very cool. The gun is rather plain but believable.
I noticed a little flicker on the top but it's tiny and non obtrusive.

I converted the shotgun from the Doom3 demo to System Shock 2. I don't know if this is considered heresy :) The model itself had to be edited; a lot of faces were removed using Blender before Shock would allow the model.

I only converted the viewmodel, I might try to convert the world model as well, depends on your reactions ;) Suggestions are always welcome.

Regards,

-Seb

Edit: updated the mod, now with 'new' sounds.
Edit: updated with the worldmodel, thanks Nameless Voice!!

//Version 2 is SCP compatible, and probably requires NewDark.
