So, does a transcription exist or not? I had to switch off at about 3 pm PT and it seems half of the interesting tidbits came from the chat.

I guess I am mistaken regarding someone recording the chat?
Valet2 recorded: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144490&p=2265683&viewfull=1#post2265683 and is working on it right now. Don't know if it was saved as a text file too.

If there would a good OCR software available it could be quite easy to get the chat as a text file.

There was at least three legendary devs interacting in the chat. I was oblivious for some time  O_o Though it's partly because I was trying to focus more on the vocal chat and gameplay.

Historically I've had good results from gocr for automatic transcription of digital text; it's trainable, so you can start it from nothing and train it to recognize the particular font you're using perfectly, as long as there are no compression artefacts or the like interfering. It does require some preprocessing, since it only supports black text on a white background, but this is easy to automate with imagemagick.

Ok folks.  Looks like we are going to start the stream back up again on Sunday.  Same bat time, same bat channel.

Splendid. Feels good to see all the love SS1 is getting right now. :)

BTW, if there is any way for you as the Twitch channel operator to save the chatlog next time, that'd be great.

I will be unable to attend this one for more than an hour or two, which upsets the fanboy in me deeply.

I still haven't finished the first stream (almost unbelievable that there is still interesting stuff to talk about after 5+ hours), hopefully I'll be done with it today.

also hoping for a higher res and working sounds for the next stream.

I could rant about these games for eternity.

I think I have all the A/V issues worked out this time.  I should be able to run with reasonable sound levels and more pixels.   As far as I can tell, twitch doesn't have good tools for saving chat logs.  If anyone wants to figure out a good way to do this, let me know.

just finished the first stream, it was great - too bad I couldn't be there realtime for the second half (could have stayed in theory, and go straight to work right after the end with no sleep, but guess I'm just too old for pulling off all nighters). lets hope Valet can put together a version that will include the chat, a lot of interesting stuff was going on there as well I bet.

looking forward to the second part.

Yes, I've recorded everything, including the text chat, and it's still being rendered. A 7-hour full hd video made of two other full hd videos with tune-up effects is not a simple task... I hope it won't crash as always!

Looks like Twitch chat uses IRC on the backend and has instructions for connecting to it with an IRC client or IRC-capable bot.

I'm never using the terrible website chat again, knowing this, but apart from that this means that you can just connect to it with hexchat or something and turn logging on and there you go. I'll probably be logging the next stream myself.

The complete 7-hour long video of MAHK's gameplay synchronized with real-time text chat, with sound compressed and denoised a bit, is being uploaded on youtube at the moment! 62 gigabytes in total, will take some time for youtube to process the recording.

http://youtu.be/-LDiTZ89j-Q

The original sound was so quiet, and the death cinematic was about to kill your ears every time. I've used a compressor to make the quiet sound some louder, but still not as loud as cortex reaver appearing :)

lets just hope the 720+p versions will become available later, as it's not possible to read the chat in a non-hd resolution.

Yeah, probably youtube is still processing the video.

The HD version is available now.

Fantastic stream, thanks again for doing this. Not going to lie, I went squee IRL when I heard my name mentioned. :)

Here are the logs as originally taken and with all joins, parts and other system messages removed. All timestamps are given in pacific (i.e. stream) time.
