Nope, it says "cyberlink depleted" just like completing it. 

edit cyberlink, not cyberspace :p

Double check that the exe of the game is the latest version 2.43 too, otherwise update it with SS2Tool:

The last guy who had the hissing sounds, fixed it by removing the SHMUP mod which he had enabled too and conflicted.
