I remember those times well - some of those voiceovers were hilarious (guy translating "asshole" literally, so not as an insult to someone whose behavior is less than ideal, but as a literal anus, for example), but generally, I didn't really enjoy them and I'm glad that part of history is long gone.

I want to elaborate. During the 90's on ex-USSR space the piracy was rampant and most VHS films that got imported for the local grey market were translated by the pirates (as video games by the way) with lots of translation errors and poor timing. There  were very few people who did the voiceovers for movies, one of them was a guy with really nasal voice. Over the years such voiceovers got something of a cult status here, and OP is trying to replicate that. It actually sounds very genuine, down to lo-fi production and everything, brings a smile to my face
