I guess my main question is: Could there be a possible fix to this scenario instead of starting a new game whenever a new update comes out? A save game converter application perhaps? or is it not possible due to how the game was designed.

I'm running into a slight problem getting ADaoB to work all right with my installation of SS2.

I used SS2Tool, and installed the mod using the mod manager.

But now, while playing the game, something weird is going on: The shotgun DESCRIPTION says it requires a Standard skill of 2, as it should, but it actually requires a skill of 3, like in the standard game.

Why is some stuff getting updated by the mod while other stuff isn't?

(note: I accidentally posted this in the SS2Tool thread by mistake at first. My apologies)

Try one of the following...

1. Make sure you tick "Getting mod ready" option from SS2Tool prior installing any mods
2. Don't combine various gamesys mods...and if you have to activate the one you want the most as the last
3. if nothing else helps simply pick shock2.gam file from ADaoB and extract it directly to where shock2.exe resides

I just didn't bother using the mod manager anymore and extracted things directly, the old-fashioned way, and it's working fine. It's not like I switch which mods I'm going to use anyway, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

For what it's worth, when I was trying with the mod manager earlier, ADaoB was the ONLY mod I was loading, I activated it before starting a new game, and my game was mod-ready. I really don't know what the issue was.

I honestly tried looking for an answer but I was unable to find one. I hope I am not a lame searcher.
I noticed that ADaOB conflicts with SHTUP. Can I use the nonetheless, or is it game breaking conflict?

No, it does not. However, activating (you're using the mod manager, right?) major .gam mods last usually minimizes further issues.

Size doesn't matter here. You can have as many graphical mods as you like plus 1 gameplay changing mod (ADaoB OR SecMod OR UARM OR Alya, etc.).

Should all same monitors (for example monitors that show human heart) been replaced with these new good looking ones in this mod? In ops there is one heart-monitor that is old ugly looking although others (at least on decks 1-5) are new ones.

Speaking of Ops...If I remember right the hybrid in bathroom that never attacks you no matter what you do was fixed in previous versions but in this version this bug has showed up again. Also in area 43 there is egg on the ceiling (below it is womans body which contains Stasis Field Generator) which releases mosquitos. The problem is they never attack you. They fly along the ceiling always to left. There is one worm that is stuck under sofa and next to it is egg that never opens. They are in area where elevator is, somewhere in crew's rooms but I dont remember in which room.

In meds near woman body (area where famous scene of screaming woman who is chased by shotgun hybrid occurs) pipe hybrid has always problems to run between railing and wall. It looks a bit stupid so is it possible to move railing closer to window so hybrid would have more room to run?

We can't modify the terrain in a few of the maps, so the monitor textures there could not be replaced.

I am using wine with SS2 - Mod Manager is not installable in this version : is it still possible to use ADAODB without a mod manager?

Just extract the content to your SS2 Directory. Make a backup of it prior to that.

Basicly the order of reading resources in SS2 is

Resources in the Mainfolder -> Resourcefolders in the RES directory (if there is one) -> .crf files in RES directory

If you extract the Content to the Main folder of SS2 its "in the way" of reading the resources and is used first.

I've never played System Shock 2 before, and my friend lent it to me and says I HAVE to play it.
I didn't enjoy the graphics and was glad to find this site will all the updates.
Now to my question.
Being a first timer, should I use this mod, or secmod?

NV do you ever find that the bots occasionally get stuck in those (2?) locations where they have to walk through a relatively small opening?  One is when a wall blows up in the mall I think and one walks through and the other is on command where there's a low ceiling or something...  for me it's happened more than a couple of times. Do you think it would hurt to make a minor adjustment to the size of those openings and/or the size of the physics box for the bots?

I can't recall actually seeing that happen, but I guess it would do no harm to tweak the geometry there if I remember next time I tweak this thing...

Much appreciated.  On second thought I think it could be because I'm using some new bots from another mod.....I think Arcaniac's graphics mod.  I think the bots are a tad bigger than the originals were.  If that's the case it must be very minor because there doesn't seem to be much visible collision detection going on between the model and the architecture.  Whatever is getting the bots stuck must be a very subtle change in the physics box size.

Arcaniac's bot models used to have that problem.
That's why I took out the bots quite some time ago.
Re-download Arcaniac's mod and you should be fine.

Hello.  I have noticed that after downloading version 0.3.0, I have been noticing some major issues.  I am also using this in conjunction with SHTUP and Rebirth.  I have been experiencing lag, and in some areas (especially Med/Sci) the game will chug along to a halt.  Then I will get the "Program has stopped responding" message box.

I have reinstalled the game, used the install tool, and have the mod manager.  I have also made sure to install ADaoB last after SHTUP and Rebirth.  The problem still persists.  I have not experienced any issues with SS2 with version 0.2.9.  Would anyone here happen to know what might be causing this problem?

Ethan. Are you starting a new game when you update to ADaoB 0.3.0? If you are simply loading an existing game after you update ADaoB you can run into a number of problems.
