I haven't been here in a while because I forgot this place existed, but I'm here again. Anyways, there's this problem I'm having in ShockEd where the lighting options won't turn off fullbright, and when I go into game mode, it's all fullbright, even though I didn't make any lighting objects. Is this some default thing I need to turn off or what?

sanity check - using the Shocked build that can be installed by the tool, right?

Yes. Latest version of SS2Tool.

View->Toggle Lighting toggles lighting, never had an issue with that (iirc, pre-NewDark commands to toggle it are deprecated and shouldn't be used).

what seems to be the problem exactly? note that I only work with existing maps, never tried to create one from scratch (if that's what you are doing).

screenshots maybe?

voodoo47This might be the issue. I haven't saved the thing anywhere. But where does one save System Shock 2 WIP fan missions anyway?

ideally, you would work on a fan mission in the same manner as you play a fan mission - set up the resources under FMs\MyFM, and create a shortcut to the editor exe adding the -fm parameter, and use FMsel to launch the editor loading the resources of that FM.

Every time I open ShockEd for the first time and load a mission, the lighting is always screwed up.  I have to toggle lighting once and then again to fix any anomalies.  After that I don't need to touch lighting until I close ShockEd.

Do you have hardware rendering enabled?

Not sure about Attic.  I don't really know how to toggle it myself.  My generic understanding of software vs hardware rendering wouldn't normally rouse suspicion to change it, as I expect both to work, merely with a difference CPU load that I don't care about.

you definitely want hw rendering enabled, see editor_disable_gdi and edit_screen_depth 32 in Dromed.cfg (SS2 folder).
