SS2 Window mode always on center

whenever the game is reloaded or the game menu is opened and closed the window shifts to the center of the screen.

I have forced window mode turned on but it is kinda useless when I can not position the window how I need it.

Is there any fix for this?

iirc this is a windows registry/dx setting (should be possible to specify the location of the first pixel rendered by the dx window relative to the desktop), so you will have to google that.

I searched through all of the windows registry with regscan and I could not find any registry entry for system shock 2 that describes any kind of window size or position

this is not related to SS2 at all, and last time I have messed around with this was during the winxp era - I very, very vaguely remember I had to add an entry into the registry that specified the 0, 0 pixel position of the d3d window. you need to find a place where people who troubleshoot direct 3d hang out.

gosh this game sucks. Like not just all the technical problems. The gameplay feels so much worse than the first.

Get detected by a security camera for a second and the game just dumps like 8 enemies on you that literally spawn right out of your fov. Turn around and they just spawn directly behind you.

and the first area is so boring, so generic. Only generic garbage to pick up so far. In the first game the first area is so packed with stuff to discover that you can basically play non stop because you find something new every room. In this game I have gone through 20 same looking rooms with nothing but the same loot.

And people praise the story for being better than the first. So far it is a more boring copy of the first game. At least the first game hooks you right in with Shodan.

I have only played the remake of the first game but I'm not looking at original footage. Even the original game had better, smoother interface than the second installment. Why is the map and the inventory worse to use?
