that would be SCP, mostly. anyway, you do this, you'll be fine, no need to think about all the technical details - that's our job.

full technical answer: fixed objects are added to SCP and SHTUP as necessary, making sure that no matter how crazy the users are with their mod combinations, they will always get the proper stuff. this sometimes leads to duplication or triplication, but considering the size of the full object pack (less than half a magabyte) this isn't really a problem.

I actually like the technical jargon, in fact that's exactly what I'm currently studying career wise.

Speaking of duplication, Kolya mentioned in the earth dynamic sky thread that two mod with that same file conflict and you could either merge them (assuming the files are the human readable MDLs) are use a mod manager. Is there any advantage to merging them? Does using a mod manager do some "magic" at runtime to give you features of both mods or just overwrite the mod with lower priority with the higher priority one?

don't merge anything, use the modmanager and things will work properly.

Ok, but does the higher priority one overwite/replace/break the lower priority one with the same file?

Generally yes, although some, such as DMLs, are combined and complement each other.

Combined at runtime in memory, cool! didn't think NewDark was capable of such a thing but I'm glad it is.

That's the entire point of DMLs. They patch specific entries in the gamesys, instead of replacing the entire thing.

I found an issue in my load order, wish I noticed it before. I had Fixed Objects with a higher priority than SHTUP. I was wondering why some objects looked lowres.
