A twist on the shoot/use mode problem

Worked my way past the initial common problem, no trouble. Thing is, I can't actually USE objects through the inventory. I can equip weapons etc. but I have to bind to hypos and whatnot to use 'em. This means I can't research. And from what I understand, that makes this a game-wrecker.
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I looked but I wouldn't be surprised if I missed it.

Never mind, it was just an offshoot effect of the original glitch. Didn't realise since I thought I'd gotten past it. I should be able to sort it out. Thanks anyway. ^^
