Fan Mission Patches.....

So I just got back into Thief after a long absence, and had lots of catching up to do with fan missions, and NewDark, and the patches that have been made to make old fan missions play properly under it. Looking through these forums, I'm seeing something similar for System Shock 2. Patches needed for fan missions. What I wanted to know, is do I need to download all these patches for these fan missions separately and manually install them somehow, or does SS2Tool do what TFix and T2Fix does and install all the fan mission patches itself?

What do I need to know about playing System Shock 2 and its fan missions with the newest NewDark?

the former - the patches are meant to be extracted to wherever the FM in question resides, overwriting the old files. you basically patch up with the tool, extract to FM into its own folder in the FMs folder, use the patches (and load mods if that's required), and you should be good to go.

always use FMsel to load FMs.

Ahh, I should have guessed you would be here on this forum too. Thanks for all your assistance.
I saw those .dml files for one of the System Shock 2 fan missions and didn't know if those were installed as part of SS2Tool as well, or if I had to do anything special with them or what. For the record, I know that I can't use AngelLoader for System Shock 2, but can I use that for the Thief games and it'll still load your patches?

no, the tool doesn't load any FM dmls at this point. I think Fen actually added SS2 support to AngelLoader, but as I didn't test it myself, I cannot guarantee things will work as intended - everything here is set up with FMsel and Blue modmanager in mind.

As of now there is no system shock 2 support in angeloader. Fen says he don't know when it will be added as it is apparently different from thief and complicated. Newdarkloader works with system shock 2 and loads dmls for you. put the dmls in a directory of you choosing and load newdarkloader, then select the mission and hit crtl F and navigate to the fix directory and choose the dml and your set.  It will load anytime you install the mission.

Voodoos way is best if you don't want to use multiple loaders.
