A couple of years ago, Josh Randall decided to release the stems for the music he composed for System Shock 2. Recently I dug up a mod I made for System Shock 2 in which I mixed and edited the stems to basically remaster the soundtrack, and I guess I'm gonna continue, and finish it.

What you can expect here are tracks that sound remarkably close to the original tracks, except (of course) in much higher quality, and don't seemingly lose quality due to poor editing (like in the soundtrack CD that was dumped online).

Please note here that this is a work in progress that I've only just recently picked up again. Also note that 02All.wav, 03All.wav, and 04All.wav are louder than the older files due to me deliberating as to whether or not to balance the volume levels based on VSR, or the original game files.

(I'm using MEGA because it doesn't seem like I can upload this as an attachment right now)

Works in progress go in Engineering.

Also, is your mod substantially different from SHMUP or Vintage Song Remake?

ZylonBaneSHMUP was basically just the soundtrack CD ported over to SS2. VSR was that plus the original game files remastered. My mod was basically me trying to use http://joshrandall.robotkid.com/Video-Game-Music to recreate how the original game files sounded, except in much higher quality.

If you compare 08Beet to VSR and SHMUP, you can hear the difference for yourself. Same with 09Beet, and 09Beet2.

By recreating the way the tracks were mixed using those stems, the issue that the soundtrack CD has where the quality can subtly, and briefly alternate between 44khz and 22khz is completely bypassed.

OK that's pretty cool. Nice find. I like how they provide the individual tracks that make up the entire mix and in aif format no less. This could allow for remixes.
