Harbinger is a single player RPG released in 2003. You can play one of three characters: a human, a gladiator robot and a weird femalish alien named Culibine. They each have different weapons, a different interface and a somewhat different plot in the story.
Talking about the story: You're on board the huge spaceship Harbinger led by some power crazy overlord that has been raiding and enslaving worlds for centuries. Quite a few of the species enslaved have made their home on board the ship where you will encounter (and kill) them. Apparently you will be able to leave the Harbinger later on for some planet side action, but I haven't seen that yet.
Harbinger's art direction is moody and lovingly detailed. Plasma shots emit light that reflects on the walls, the enemies are diverse though not very smart. Maybe it's because I'm at the early stages but so far the game has been quite easy though fun to play. You run around fulfilling different quests, collecting stuff from enemies and hidden depots which you later sell to your local dealer for advanced weaponry, armour and some nice gadgets, like deployable camera bots. Your character advances in several skills which you can control, like ranged attack, melee, but also "override" which is apparently a sort of hacking skill to get around enemy cameras.

Harbinger looks like I would hope a System Shock roguelike might look like.

A demo is available on the Harbinger site.

Their trailer is pretty horrible at trying to emphasise action and I couldn't find any videos of the gameplay so  made one with the gladiator bot character.

One day you’re young and the next thing you know you need a “strategy” to get up out of a chair.
