Hey, I'm aiming to try to play SS2 with a friend of mine and (admittedly) I nabbed a copy off the internet as I don't terrifically want to drop a whole lot of cash on an old (albeit good) game. It already had the SHTUP Beta 6, DFB's sound upgrade v.3b, and Anomalies, Discrepancies, and outright bugs (Beta 0.2.7) which the platform picked up.
It also comes patched as v2.3.
I couldn't see a multiplayer option straight after installing (runs fine by the way) so I looked up the multiplayer patch. I tried installing the patch only to have an "installation directory error". I then saw that the platform had the patch and was generally a good thing to use so I installed that.
Now whenever I try to launch the game it simply does the loading and then leaves it at that. System Shock 2 does briefly appear in the Processes on my Windows Task Manager.
I've noticed it comes up with:

Faulting application name: shock2.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x37d87290
Faulting module name: shock2.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x37d87290
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00194937
Faulting process id: 0x1e18
Faulting application start time: 0x01cbaee29d993979
Faulting application path: F:\Games\System Shock 2\shock2.exe
Faulting module path: F:\Games\System Shock 2\shock2.exe
Report Id: dbda2fb5-1ad5-11e0-bbfd-00508dd7eb12

On the event log.

I am running Windows 7 on 32bit

I really would love to play through this with a friend and any help would be supremely appreciated.

They aren’t going to come to you; it doesn’t work that way.
