ok so i get hamachi to work and i go to join game and type it and a server shows the list of all the players etc and now what?do i got to the multiplayer menu in system shock 2 and click join game or somethin because i did the join on hamachi without it running and yes i have patched system shock 2 with sshocktool so is system shock sopposed to automaticly start when i click join game on hamachi?

On Hamachi you're not joining a game. You join a private network, which is like a LAN, only over the internet.
Your friends connect to the same network and then you can host and join games with each other.
It is best to stay in contact via chat while setting up the game.

oh i get it i chat on hamachi and they make a game and give me the ip the n ijoin in multiplayer etc ahy

ok me and my friend wanted some ss2 coop action so we fired everything up (hamachi) and then we tried joining it said joining game....... it just gets hung up and wont join then i tried hosting and it wouldent work i have disabled my firewall and put hamachi on top with the arrow thing can you help?

My suggestion would be to try fiddling with settings, But what happens are you just in the lobby ? or in level ?

well  when im in the lobby  i type in his hamachi ip and then i click next and it goes contacting host then it sayss joining and gets hung

Make sure SS2 actually uses the Hamachi connection, try letting your friend host, try again, sacrifice a goat in a full moon if it still don't work.
SS2's netcode is well known to be buggy. Consider playing alone instead, SS2 is not really a multiplayer game anyway.

yeah i did that i disabled the firewall on hamachi made it top priorty and we tried hosting both of us i hosted then he hosted

Did you also try disabling your normal internet connection while leaving the hamachi connection enabled? This would only be necessary until the game has picked up the connection.

Also check if you have a file "ShockWrapper.dll" in your game dir. If so, delete it.

Ok so this is the second failed attempt at multiplayer this time it wasent joining game... its join failed!
we both have the same system shock 2 version my ip in system shock 2 is my hamachis i did that arrow thing to make it the top network and i tried disabling my internet to make it go to that but nothing worked any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since this was the 3rd thread you started about multiplayer problems I took the liberty of joining them (successfully) because the basic problem remains the same: SS2's netcode is unreliable.

Hmmm... not one for posting techy issues but since a complete reinstall of Win7 I can no longer get anyone to connect to my hosted game. NOT using Hamachi, as I never needed to in the past. ALL router ports forwarded (to eliminated router issues) and Win7 firewall temporarily off... still nobody can join.

Any ideas, please??

What I can tell you is that you shouldn't connect to the internet with a setup like that.
Anyway, try pinging your friend's IP address. He will first have to give it to you. Then: Start->Run->cmd
And in the command line window:
ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
