Bit of a problemo

Okay, here is the deal.

Pretty much this morning I had a craving to play System Shock 2 like a pregnant woman craves a stick of butter. I've installed and uninstalled SS2 on my windows 7 64 bit PC so I was no stranger to how the process goes. Copy SHOCK to the C drive, get SS2tool and patch everything, and I'm good to go. Well, it didn't exactly work like that. The game works fine, but there is an apparent problem. None of the sounds work. Now, you probably wanna redirect me to the MOTHER page but my case is different, or at least I think it is. The sound works, you can hear goggles walking and the buttons go BE DOOP like always, but there is no voice coming from anywhere. I can't here the guy say those first classic lines of the game and all the messages i get from Polito dont speak a word. Even the hybrids don't spout their traditional THE MANY ARE STRONG. Anyways, I've searched around a bit and can't seem to find a true answer, can You help me? Plus how old is Kolya anyways? I'd imagine late thirties

Any response would be great, and I really want to get SS2 back to its old self. Thanks for reading

hmm.. putting the butter sticks aside, have you tried playing with positional sound bias in the audio options?

well, its at the center, should I move it. All of the other sound options are locked so I cant do anything to those options

So you had the same game version running on the same system before?
It could be a case of missing resources, make sure you run SS2Tool (and the game) as admin, so it can move around what needs to be moved.
Make sure the game isn't in "Program Files".
Finally, reboot after installing the SS2Tool.
And yeah try moving the positional sound a bit to the right. Just a teeny bit, you know? Which sound options are locked? I guess you mean Hardware Acceleration and EAX? That's normal. See the Sound Guide.

Try to reply to what I asked and said. Did you have the same game version running on the same system before?
Did you make sure of the points I mentioned?
Are the sound options I mentioned the ones that are locked for you?

The game you use as a basis for your installation might not be unmodified. It might be the HOTU version.

This is a totally brand new computer I have, it has never had at one point the SS2 disk until now. In the sound department, The only options open are speaker test, which does nothing and the reversed stereo, which also does nothing. Everything else is locked so I can't use it. I tried moving the sound bias a bit up but it didn't do a thing. I'm not sure if this matters but I'm using the SS2 disk that I bought in 99, does that have anything to do with it?

well, snd2 is there, but its not in any data folder, just a separate file in the SHOCK folder.

Of course, did everything except mod manager cause it crashes my game

YESSSSSS, it works. The videos cause it crash and when i take the videos out, it plays perfectly. Thanks for taking interest in my problem!
