Hey, I just got System Shock 1, and I was trying to play the game in 640x480 resolution so the game wouldn't be so horribly ugly. Although the speed of the actual game is fine, the cursor crawls across the screen so slowly that the game is nearly unplayable. Is there any way I can get the mouse to move at a normal speed, or am I stuck at playing in 320x400?

No, I'm using Shock CD under WinXP. I'm using VDMsound to run it, like it says on TTLG.org.

And like I said, it's no problem if this can't be fixed. I'd just like to play in 640x480.

Using SS-P would be easier and more stable.
Anyway, you need to use mouse2kv then (download here).
Call it from a batch file like so:
Code: [Select]
MOUSE2KV.EXE 640 480 8 8 cdshock.exe

Ok, I have a similar problem. The mouse just goes too fast! I move it as slow a possible but a single tick can have me jumping over buttons and objects. Using SS portable the only set up that work was the Mouse2kv on 640x480. Is there a way I could modify the startup so that Mouse2kv is set to a lower speed setting than 8?

Sure. Copy SHOCK/RES/SSPsrc/mouse.bat to SHOCK/RES/
Edit the batch to your likings. ("8 8" are xspeed and yspeed of the mouse)
Run the batch.

It's possible that you run into memory problems now. If you do convert mouse.bat to mouse.exe and replace the one you have. Then start the game from the launcher program.

Ok, after a bit of tinkering the mouse moves at a reasonable pace, just one other problem: on the bottom and right sides of the screen the cursor can just keep going; it doesn't stop at the edge of the screen. I tried changing the screen size parameters but it doesn't seem to work...

Help?
