Blank scree after load or starting new game

I have installed ss2 according to the readme file as well as sstool3.6. Everything works aside from the fact I can't see anything out side the main menu. sound is working and if I hit esc. I get the menu.

I am running xp on a 2 gighrz intel duo proccesor, with a nvidia geforce 8300 gs. I have a wide screen monitor running at 1680x1050 32 bit color. my video card is dual monitor enabled.

Please help
