Does this version use DDS compression at all? There are so many high-res textures in 400 that it would probably be a good idea.

I got tons of artefacts with DDS compression. I might try to convert some TGA files to PNG, or even use better PNG crusher though.

Those only affect file size. The advantage of DDS is that it actually saves VRAM because it's decompressed in realtime by the video card.

Which tool did you use to convert them?
And do you have any example files where it happened?

Many CONGRATS and THANKS for your newly released mod version number 20.0. ! ! !, especially ahead of its pre-announced time. Regardless of when the latest version of your mod is released, it's a very welcomed addition.

I used a Photoshop pluggin from NVidia.

While I'm thankful for the feedbacks, I must admit I don't care about that type of suggestions right now. I have three goals I want to see fulfilled in priority, everything else will have to wait:
  • all textures are replaced (including textures that weren't used in game -- by the way: if you have missions using those textures, I'd gladly have a look at them)
  • the new textures are looking close enough to the original material (I noticed that Ops_2/OPS024 should be brighter than it currently is)
  • it has to look good (right now there are a few really shitty-looking textures in Body of The Many and they need to be redone from scratch)
I definitely don't want to sit on this mod for four more years and kinda want it to be over soon-ish. The wonders of file compression and whatnots will have to wait until the mod does as advertised on the tin.

How about the reflections? Planning to upgrade them to cube maps? As I'm sure you're aware, the 2D reflections have popping and snapping issues.

The website seems to be down and I can't download. Any idea what to do here?

Fix note for next version: fam texture eng_1/eng02 has the date "34 jan 3001" on it. Problem is, SS2 takes place in 2114.

I'm more bothered that january managed to have more days than I know it for.

might not be a date then, just gibberish that happens to look like one.

In the 400 version of the texture the "date" isn't even the same font as the rest of the text on it. It's all rather odd.

(This texture can be seen in the short hallway leading to Fluidics Control, among other places.)

well, as we'll have to update this mod for the SCP b5 release either way, replacing that text with some other gibberish shouldn't be a problem for the SHTUP guy.

I'm actually working on an "SCP patch" for 400. 400 is designed for vanilla texture placement, while SCP has some more specific needs. What updates were you planning?

665afe302b6c6voodoo47

665afe302b715
that's what I had in mind, but I really think we should just integrate it - as we have learned, patches for mods are bad/confusing for people, and should be avoided unless there is absolutely no other way around. besides, it's not like it's going to affect vanilla people in any way.

Just changing stuff in someone else's mod may not be taken kindly. I know I'd be pissed if someone did that to SHTUP.

it's a harmless addition, technically (no changes for people not using SCP). also, as ACC doesn't have an account here anymore, the mod is pretty much abandoned at this point.

Wait what? ACC deleted his account?
