Hello. Thanks alot for making System Shock Portable. I tried that method on the TTLG forums to get SS to work on XP, but it failed (probably because I could only find VDMSound 2.2). I also tried Dosbox, but the performance wasn't ideal. Someone in that thread mentioned SSP. It works and runs beautifully.

Unfortunately, the music doesn't work (the sounds do). The only change I made to the game's installation is a resolution patch (from this site). The music didn't work before I installed the patch. Any help would be appreciated.

If you had the music running in any of your previous installs, take a look at the file CYB.CFG there. That's where the midi settings are saved. Copy the midi related values over to SS-Portable's CYB.CFG.

One day, System Shock Portable just entirely stopped playing the MID files. I can play other MIDs via Windows Media Player, but SSP refuses to play any music. It used to work, and the music volume is set up all the way on each save, and new game. I'm not sure what to do. I have a CD version of the game, but it refuses to run, even with DoSBOX. Ideas?

Do you have VDMSound installed?
Tried running the integrated dosbox of SSP?

See the SSP thread for more info on these topics.
