I experienced a crash about five minutes in this time. It happened while I tried to swap out that first battery while in menu-mode.

Still, this is ATI & Linux we're talking about. And a legacy card at that. The least happy marriage in all of.. computer-world. A newer card may do better.

both wine and NewDark should throw crashdumps at you - do share them. to generate a proper wine report, I had to enable "emulate a virtual desktop" in the wine settings, without that, I was not able to see the message box and save the report.

upgraded to gf9500gt, and played for 40 minutes without a single crash with hw hud enabled (d3d_disp_2d_surf_mode 0 commented out). that would point to a driver issue, meaning the stability/ability to run with hw hud under wine is heavily dependent on what kind of gpu and driver do you currently use (the lack of mac users reporting crashing would suggest that their drivers are capable of running the hw hud properly). Saleck, do share your hardware specs. //ok, gtx680. try using the latest proprietary nvidia driver - the logs suggest you are using the open one.

and yeah, this is something I don't like too much on linux based operating systems - the support for very old or very new gpus is shoddy, you need to stay right in the middle if you want optimal performance and stability.

I'm sorry, I lost it. I suffered major system breakage a day ago. Still busy recovering data from HD I lost. I already installed SS2 again, but it doesn't seem to want to run under Linux Mint at all.  :thumb:  :P

Sorry I've been up to other things lately and forgot about this thread.

Yeah, I'm using a GeForce GTX 680 with the latest drivers I can install from the Ubuntu Repositories (314.something I think)

Intel i7 Ivy-bridge machine,
16GB RAM,
Asus Xomar D2 Sound Card,
Win 7/Kubuntu Dual Boot.

I've tried to install some more up-to-date drivers (320) but I can't figure out how. My own machine seems to like blocking me from doing this simple task.

I'll try and get some more logs in the coming days.

go to "additional drivers", and you should have a couple of driver choices. pick one, apply changes, reboot, done.
