display has lots of noise and calibration seems off

My Asus laptop was working fine. Today, not so much. The display has lots of (visual) noise and the calibration seems way off. Can't get rid of the noise.

My guess is a hardware fault.
I had a similiar problem where noise appeared and then the screen turned brighter and brighter till it was completely white.
So I would send it in for repair.
