He touched the panel and the screen came to life to reveal a computer generated face of a woman. The edges of her face seemed to fade into a web of computer cables and circuitry, like some digital medusa. The face was graceful, but serious.

"What the hell is this?", Deck asked nobody in particular.

"I am Shodan", answered the console.

Interesting find.

Keep wanting to write a bit of setting fluff but then its like 'why? What can I add here?'

Don't get me wrong I realize I have stuff I can add, hell in the shock infinity thread I proposed a happy ending for the many that doesn't come off as completely ignoring that they ate a lot of people.

That one was released a VERY long time ago. Great story however.

It and "The Dark Seed Chronicles" are the best of the lot, as far as System Shock fan fiction goes.
