Shocked: Texture thumbs wont show [solved]

My shocked learning comes to a first halt. I can load texture families (via command line or menu), but there are no thumbs (see picture).
I used the gog version+patch_system_shock2_2.1.1.20+SS2Tool_v5.1+editor.zip+ShockEd Basic 1.11

How can I fix this?

What's "patch_system_shock2_2.1.1.20"?

That's a patch from gog. I was in doubt if that patch was necessary for the gog-version, so I used it. But when I don't use it, I get the same result.

yes, it updates the GOG build to 2.42, if memory serves. shouldn't be necessary if you patch up with the tool, but wouldn't cause any harm, unless you would apply it after the tool.

I followed the suggestion given here and changed my desktop setting from 16 to 32 Bit and now thumbs show up with no problem at all.
