so yeah, the "Friend" saves are irredeemably corrupted. if loading an older save did not help, you are done.

just to be sure, you are both running the same set of mods, right?

Might as well be imagination and coincidence, but here are some tricks I figured when doing MP:
1. Let the client (so, the person(s) not hosting) operate elevators and bulkheads.
2. Make sure nothing noticed you when saving and all doors are closed.
3. Holding wrenches or pistols seems to be the safest.
4. Make both host and client save seperately into different slots.
5. Stand still and have your inventory closed when someone else is saving.
6. Having less players means less potential sources for bugs (Capt. Obvious reporting in).
Hope I could help to prevent future corruption, and be especially careful with Fan Missions, you could turn into a ghost or be haunted by a poltergeist conga line. It's fun once you get used to it tho.

make a (hard) save before each bulkhead would also be good advice. should allow you to lose as little progress as possible once a save goes corrupt.
