Re: SS2 Rebirth Beta 01 - Complemented Version

from my point of view, it's finished (unless someone manages to find some horrible error). feel free to merge/not merge it with rebirth (beta 02 complemented complemented version? :rolleyesgreen:), or whatever you find appropriate. as for splitting it to a separate thread, well, it is a rebirth extension, and it is worthless without it, so I would just keep it here, for the time being..

This was one of the first mods I put up here and I wasn't sure if I could just update the version number or if Cyberblutch would return to his mod some day and then there'd be two versions 02. I think it's pretty safe to say this won't happen any more.

Okay, I updated Rebirth with your files. While I was at it I fixed the red squiggle on the monk02.gif texture.

small note: I did not touch the existing ghosts in any way.

I thought you changed their textures? Maybe I misunderstood.

Re: SS2 CyberBlutch Rebirth 02

I have used the ghost model for the living npcs, that's all. the ghosts themselves are just like before, no change at all.
Re: SS2 CyberBlutch Rebirth 02
666258eed23e1
Ah okay, I changed this in the first post.

This version of Rebirth is compatible with TF's Secmod 2.8, right?
Re: SS2 CyberBlutch Rebirth 02
666258eed25a9
Probably.

Definitely use the rebirth-patch provided by TF.
In the worst case some models will not be shown as intended, nothing game breaking.

Re: SS2 CyberBlutch Rebirth 02

should be fully compatible, as you cannot interact with the living npcs (translation: gib them) in any way. wait a second, did I just say gib? this gives me an idea that migh just be worth checking out..

edit: nope. tried to use the secmod gibbed head as a replacement for the original lowpoly ripped of head, but it didn't work out too well-mainly because the first two ripped off heads are supposed to be female. I'll have a look at this again when (or, should I say, if) I'll be able to edit the head model itself (if I understand things correctly, this should be easier than doing a full model, as the head has no joints)..

If your idea is to add gibbing to the game, SecMod already did it.

It seems to me pretty obvious voodoo47 is aware of that and his idea will probably have something to do with textures I guess :)

Re: SS2 CyberBlutch Rebirth 02

kind of, see the edit of my previous post.

edit: just a couple of notes for myself. you can consider it a (very) long term plan for my contributions to the rebirth mod. if I'll figure out my way around model editing, that is.

-gotta make a new model for the ripped of head. ripping the head of off the rebirth female corpse model should do the trick. possible problems: first two ripped off heads are female (edit2: actually, it seems like rebirth is making them female. looking at the original lowpoly model, it looks male). are there any more of them? if there are, are they all female as well? need to run through ss2 to verify this. edit2: it, indeed, seems that all ripped off heads are supposed to be female, which is good (it simplifies things a bit).
-need to create a new model "bald male" by editing the rebirth male ghost model and removing the 3d part that forms the hair. bald male model is required for Diego, and potentially Cortez-I'm not satisfied with his current generic "recreation male" look. possible problems: the "recreation male" model is shared with one nameless guy at Chesapeake station. need to either remove him, or make him use some other model (than "recreation male").
-suicide googles ghost. once the "bald male" model is done, fix the (original?) googles texture so it will fit the new model. possible problems: no idea what to do with his gun.

Great to see some activity on this! Way to go, voodoo47!

I found an error with Rebirth (actually, I'm not sure if it's with Rebirth or with other thing). Apparently, I can often see that the dead bodies of the crew are, somehow, floating just a few inches above the ground. I'm just checking if you could fix this sometime (perhaps it's just a problem with my copy of system shock 2).

Awsome job so far with Rebirth guys!

Re: SS2 CyberBlutch Rebirth 02
666258eed3052
this is not a rebirth related problem, it is a bug in the game itself-most bodies are floating above the ground for some reason. ADAOB may, or may not fix this in the future (one way or another, it has already been reported).

Ok thanks for your help. FYI, ADaoB didn't solve that problem for my game.

Re: SS2 CyberBlutch Rebirth 02

I did not say that ADAOB fixes the issue-I have said it MAY fix it in the future (since it is a bugfix mod, there is a good chance that someone will have a look at it eventually). for now, there is no solution..

I'm looking for a screenshot of a midwife from the "current" Rebirth version. I have seen alot and am not sure which one is currently included. Thanks

That is one freaky chick. I haven't played this game in a long time, and have the SS2 Mod Manager 1.10 Beta. In the list is in the mod Manager is Rebirth Beta 01 - Complemented Version. So I thought I would try the latest version of the Rebirth mod. I see the original one I have in the Mod Manager is an "SS2MOD" file, while the latest is a ZIP file. Does one suggest just de-activating the original file in the SS2 Mod Manager, and then unzipping the latest version into the game directory? Or is the latest version not enough of a change to dink around with? Thanks

Re: SS2 CyberBlutch Rebirth 02

if you are using mod manager, just deactivate beta01, change the extension of the latest version to SS2MOD and activate it. that should do the trick.
