Screen corruption after i exit system shock 2

Hi guys, newbie here wonder if anyone can help.  I recently brought system shock 1+2 off gog, got them both working fine with the mods graphic updates etc. But recently whenever I exit system shock 2 my desktop is fine for about 15 seconds then bugs out on me, it glitches so badly i have to hold down my power button to restart. anyone else encountered this? its only on SS2 any other game works fine. its really weird. I have had a look on the forums here and at gog but no one seems to have this particular issue. Any help is welcome thanks.  (I've even edited the .cfg to alter the resolution in case it was a compatibility error but no joy)

try updating gpu drivers and maybe run windowed (cam_ext.cfg, see force_windowed).

Did you use SS2Tool?
