But seriously, Diablo has more role-playing than SS2 and no one in their sane mind would call Diablo an RPG. SS2 has RPG elements, or rather, one element, which is the character building, but that's it. The story is completely railroaded, there's little use to attributes and skills outside of combat or combat-like situations, there is no interactive world-building, no NPC interactions, no factions to ally with, no choices and consequences, nothing. I wouldn't even want to call it a hybrid, it's more like a survival horror action game with FPS/RPG elements. Yet, ZB goes bazonkers when anyone calls SS2 anything other than a full-fledged RPG on the level of Fallout. Why, I will never understand. It's only a label, there's no qualitative statement attached to it, like "SS2 is a good game because it is/is not a RPG".
