Sounds fair enough. What about merging of the data folders? I read in various places, including the DOSBox wiki, that you should copy the whole cdrom directory to the base (sshock) directory rather than merge the two.

I spent a lot of time making the download as small as possible (because these things still mattered back then), I looked at every resource and removed duplicates, low res versions, etc. That's not to say I couldn't have made any mistake, just that it wasn't a simple merge & overwrite job.
I'm sorry I can't provide you with a lot of details, but it's more than 10 years ago and I haven't looked at SSP since the EE version was released.

Understood, but what you have given me was indeed helpful. I'm considering writing a guid on how to get SS1 Enhanced CD Edition working on OS X, would it be alright if I posted it on this site (within the Looking Glass Classics section)?

You're welcome. But you won't be able to start a new thread there, it will automatically be created on RecDeck instead. If the guide looks useful, we'll move it to LGS Classics later.

Thanks, but before I write anything I'd like to know more about System Shock's technical side. I know Mok's XP patch is irreverent to DOS users (or in my case, DOS environment emulation) but I decided to play with it anyways. It seems to run fine even under DOS. What exactly did Mok change inside this executable to make it run under XP?
