One of the things i don't like about hydroponics, is that its so cold and bright.

So just for fun i tried to swap some textures out here and there today just to see how it would look if darker.

What? Hydroponics has some of the darkest areas in the game. In fact it's the only map where the ambient light level is set to 0, 0, 0.

Didn't know that. I Guess it is set that way because most of the textures are so bright..

As an alternate textures thing it's not bad, however it makes Hydroponics resemble Ops/Rick strongly, fighting against each deck being different.

A mod that adds dark areas to the game and some light sources for the player would be cool though, was a pretty old idea I think.

I like this, based on the screenshots. Though would prefer if darkness were added via logical means: broken bulbs, more lights simply off by default and a switch is needed. Some object partially obstructing a light source...
How bright SS2 is is a little disappointing for me personally in regards to horror, but most of the time it does make a lot of sense. Not BOTM though.

Cargo bays should be enough darkness for the entire game.

SCP does darken a few areas of the coolant tunnels at least.

Yep, I noticed. The shadow casting across corners is also pretty good. Was disappointed to see none of that in the above screenshots. Well, the xerxes shot is probably the only good place for it.
