Two of the big rocks I use in Polaris/Holiday have strange errors: when you walk past them, the texture moves on the object on some points.
I tried to fix it, but I couldn't. Can someone please help me?

The rocks were made by Greenhorn, but he isn't around anymore.

large objects are not too great in Dark, so this may not be fixable, but we'll see.

This happens on all objects where the texture is stretched into a non-rectangular shape on a polygon and then that polygon is clipped against a screen edge. Thief's wobbly picture frames are an infamous example.

The easiest way to fix this is to add some more faces to the area. I can do that but need some support as I don't know where I can place them.
I'm no good with ShockEd, can someone make me a simple box with the two rocks so I can test around a bit? Or add them somewhere I can look at them easily.
If you know which areas are wobbly you can also make a picture and circle them so I don't have to look around as much.

it would be great if you could fix it.

Here is a simple miss-file with the two rocks.

Thank you for providing a map.

I triangualted the big rock on eye level and the small one in full. Then I did some UV map adjustments on the big rock to get rid of some of the "stretchmarks".

On the big rock you will still have the wobblyness on the upper parts. I've included a full triangulated version of it as well in case you rather want it fully gone. The difference is that this one has about a thousand polygons compared to around 700 of the other big rock.

If you need any new models feel free to ask me about them. If it's only object models and no major texture work  it shouldn't be a problem for me.

Thank you  :thumb:

I allways have problems with big objects.
I messed around with the kitchentop for hours and just have to give up. And later I saw the new one that you did for SPC  :awesome:  :thumb:

The cutlery?
Mhh.. yeah. I believe with the newer tools I have at hand now I could even make a better version.
But then again it would need a new texture. So that probably won't happen anythime soon.

yeah, and I put the texture together - its mspaint quality is graciously masked by the relatively small size of individual cutlery pieces (and SS2's dimly lit environments), so the result is not completely terrible.

don't think a new version is really necessary, but hey, don't let that stop you.

It plays like a dark joke without a proper punchline.
