System Shock 2 is working fine on my Computer with windows 7 (thanks to kolya's guide)

But I don't get ShockEd to work, I just get the message: Cannot find GUI font (File: uigame.cpp, Line: 60) (Yes to trap, No to exit, Cancel to ignore)

Any help, please?

I'll assume that you installed shocked into the game folder and not into a subfolder, which is the most common reason for that error. Do you use the Dromed.cfg file that came with the ShockedToolkit? If not add this line near the bottom (or change it if it exists):
gui_font editor\textfont

I installed shocked into the game folder, I use the Dromed.cfg file that came with Shocked. The line is already there, but I get this error message.

I don't have windows 7 to check but I'm sure it works. There must be some error with the setup so it cannot find the file.
Can you play?

I can play, the game runs fine.

If anyone else here who is on windows 7 could check this, that would be really helpful.

It seems that ShockEd can't load EDITOR.CRF from .\Data\res directory. Solution to this problem is to move it one level up into .\Data.

Unfortunately ShockEd now crashes for some reason so I can't test futher that does it work correctly.

This was done under Windows 2008 Server R2.

EDIT: Looks like that Shocked can't see .\Data\res directory at all.

EDIT #2 : ShockEd does have special meaning for .\Data directory.

Could this be simply a long path issue?

No, I don't think so. Game itself works correctly.

Hmm, it seems to have to do something on installation order.

You need to first install game, then editor and after all that SS2Tool.

Works fine here (on WinXP) when using the SS2Tool first, but worth a try I guess.

Never thought of changing the installation order, but that helped.  :thumbwink: Shocked is working now, thank you very much  :)

But I still have a problem, when entering the game mode: some of the original sounds are causing problems. If they should start to play, the game just freeze. It's strange, because I have no problems with my custom sounds and I don't have any problems with sounds when playing the game through shock2.exe. It's just in the game mode of Shocked.

Yes, of course duct tape works in a near-vacuum. Duct tape works anywhere. Duct tape is magic and should be worshiped.
