Stuck at start menu

After installing and downloading patches the game starts but crashes when i try to start a new game. The "Intro" button and "credits" don't work either.
Plz HELP...

rename LGVID.AX (to _LGVID.AX, for example), and see whether this gets you ingame. and by patching, you mean this, right?
