wine 1.7.14 game hanges when loading level

Hello,

I've just recently installed my cd copy of system shock 2 onto wine, including the ss2tools 5.1. The game starts off fine but anytime I pick a profession to start out as the games goes into the level loading screen and just freezes.

Also, to add, anytime I try to save my game it freezes as well.

Any ides why? Am I cursed to use windows forever?

Sounds like the game can't read or write in it's folder. I'm no wine expert though. Hopefully someone else has more insight.

trying to run the free demo would be a good start. if it runs, then the full game has a resource issue, most probably.
