SS2 Video problems

I have tried various methods described in the Videos/Cutscene guide, but cutscenes still don't work in the game. When I try to click "Intro", the screen just flickers briefly.

Can anyone help?

Where is your version of SS2 from? Honesty please.

Not from a disc. I downloaded it from a website, although I don't remember which.

Cool. You should check the videos with GSpot to see what they're encoded with and if you have that codec installed.
If you can't get it to work that way, google HOTU and find the SS2 torrent there. In this case you definitely will need DivX installed.

I'm also having trouble getting my cutscenes to work, I downloaded my version via HOTU I followed the guide posted in movies/cutscenes but it hasn't changed anything the cutscenes can be viewed through any media player just not in-game I downloaded Gspot and  Divx any advice would be helpful.

Have you installed the DivX codec?

I did and I have, I also downloaded the modmanager.

So what does GSpot say? What codec is being used for any of the videos?

Gspot says that the Divx decoder filter for video and MPEG layer-3 decoder for audio. I notice though that when I use the Gspot vid column theirs a failed to connect output pin 0x009a450c ("Scr Media") on the video I tested (CREDITS.AVI) to input 0x048a4774 ("Stream") on filter 0x01f2d835("DivX Demux").ConnectDirect()failed.Error: 0x80040207: [unknown]. however the video still plays just fine. and it does a similar message with the audio test though again it still plays it after rendering
