Hey...I downloaded and installed the Tacticool Complete mod and while it's working (I have the new wrench psi-amp, for example), when I get the pistol it's NOT showing the new one. Am I doing something wrong? I did notice a file in the Tacticool folder that says "vanilla pistol." Do I have to do something to get the new pistol working? Thanks. Great mod, BTW.

The noob modding guide post shows a mod order that is making this happen.  Load up the mod manager and move Tacticool close to the top of your priority list and it will fix this problem.

incorrect mod priority, most probably. Tacticool needs to have higher priority than SCP/ADaoB/whatever other mod that also includes a pistol model. see here: https://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=4447.0

I set my order up exactly like the picture in the modding guide post Voodoo and had the same problem as Dolemite.  I think Tacticool maybe needs to be higher than one of those 5 other mods.  Not sure which one of those is overwriting Tacticool.  Maybe SHTUP?

aha - the last fixed object pack includes a fixed up pistol model that will override Tacticool, that means you need to move Tacticool right above fixed objects. guide modified accordingly.

Yes, moving Tacticool right above fixed objects totally did the trick! The new gun/hand model is showing up now. Thanks gents, I really appreciate the help.

I had previously played through the GOG version of SS2 back when it was first released (easily one of the top gaming experiences of my life), but that time it was with minimal modding (mostly just SHTUP). This time I'm throwing in pretty much every fun little mod I can find. It's like a whole new game now.  :)

No, certainly not, please post your shock2.log and your ss2bmm.log. Which version exactly did you download?

Just to be sure I redownloaded the 1.1 version of the laser pistol from the first page, and I still get the original version if I set it to charged mode.

added a complemented version, which includes all of the available Tacticool models, and Eldron's psi amp (with RocketMan's hires psi amp world model) in one easy to download archive. the complemented version is required for SCP, as it includes the alternate laser pistol model. also (as many users seem to miss the point), if you've got the complete package, you don't need anything else.
the newbie guide exist for a reason you know. also, I'm genuinely interested what drove you to ignore everything, and just load (some) outdated mods semi randomly.

Lol, I was kidding, but some of the red will be fine I think. Anyway, I had my own package of mods that was working fine prior to my recent upgrade to SCP beta 2. I've been modding SS2 for nearly 2 decades, that's why I would have never thought to bother with "newbie guides" and such. I'll take it as a lesson in humility.

It's such a shame Shock 2 has been around this long and still doesn't have a full or even near-full HD weapon set. Tacticool creates inconsistency as it is incomplete, yet its weapon updates are too perfect to not install, resulting in imperfection either way.

Proposal: some of the core community members and Shock 2 know-it-alls opens a donations account. Community all chips in. With this account, an artist (freelance contractor) is hired, hand-picked to do the remaining weapons with said know-it-all's technical and design oversight. There's the Fusion cannon, Laser Rapier, Crystal Shard, Time disruptor thingie (I forget the name), and the two remaining exotic weapons. 6 models. Shouldn't be too pricey.

Wishful thinking, but this game deserves better. And hey, it's a better proposal than gambling your money by the thousands on kickscammer.com as people are so fond of doing.

I'd pony up some change for that in a heartbeat. Hell, even if there's little guarantee that it even goes anywhere. Would love a (faithful!) update to the EMP Rifle, Annelid weapons, etc.

Luckily the Fusion Cannon and Laser Rapier look pretty badass already, but improvements there would still be great.

Nice idea. Could also be expanded to get new enemy models that are more faithfull to the vanilla compared to rebirth.
